Last week, the Flatirons Solutions team descended on Seville in Spain for the annual gathering of experts, technologists and technical publications practitioners for the S1000D User Forum 2016. Along with our peers in the industry, our team exhibited our solutions, demonstrated our newest technology and presented recent case studies.

Our team had the opportunity to meet with industry colleagues, and showcase our latest innovations. Jarle Hjortland gave a demonstration of the latest versions of CORENA Pinpoint and Pinpoint Mobile, our next-generation IETP software. He was also on-hand to demonstrate our newest version of business process management software CORENA Insight 7 and our support for S1000D version 4.2 across the entire CORENA Suite.

Presentations by our very own Falk Aupers and Gary Mayer were selected by the organising panel to be included on the agenda. On day one Gary Mayer gave a joint presentation with James Griffie of Delta Airlines on the challenges and solutions for adoption S1000D maintenance documentation for a new aircraft type. While on day two, co-presenting with Christian Eikhoff of Lufthansa Technik, Falk Aupers gave a presentation on the current status and findings of a joint project outlining business rules for an S1000D project from an aerospace MRO perspective.

Both presentations gave a fabulous insight into how we at Flatirons support our customers to become leaders among their peers when it comes to adoption of new technologies, new standards and industry best practise. We find that sharing new ideas and expertise is the best way to challenge perceived wisdom and to push the frontiers of understanding. It is one of the ways that we challenge the status quo. It is through sharing ideas at industry conferences and user forums such as the S1000D User Forum that we can move our industry forward and prepare for the future.
